Memory upgrade slows Microsoft Vista right down
The good news is that for those who want to use a third-party defrag utility, there's now a free update for Diskeeper 2007 that's compatible with Vista. Finally, documentation became available on the Microsoft site indicating that to run Aero Glass on multiple video cards, they must use the same WDDM driver.

Vista - how good it is?
Good luck and good hunting. Although you are right in that Vista handles memory differently from previous MS OS's...that does not necessarily mean that things UAC of course...the only other *very noticable* difference I've found comparing Vista to XP is that Vista definately requires a much better video card.

Getting Vista plus DX10 card just for Halo 2 PC?
Anything where the options are opened up for consumers, and upgrade necessity reduced, is a good thing. However, step-down options also mean that the consumer actually gets less from the new OS. And consumers will actually want (if not need) all of the most touted and promoted new features, like Aero Glass.

I also have a 2GB SD card running for ReadyBoost but it doesn't seem to matter whether this is used or not. I've tried turning off all the new display features such as Aero Glass but that hasn't made any difference either. There are no clues to the problem (or even evidence the problem occurred) in the Event Logs
