I have a high spec machine with loads of ram and a good graphics card with a 4.6 WEI. Up until today I have enjoyed vista aero glass but it has suddenly gone and I can't get it back. I have all the latest drivers (through driver agent). If I go into windows color and appearance all I have is the appearance setting

Vista Theme
Only for Aero Glass you need a more modern gfx card, but a GeforceFX 5200 costs just a few bucks and does fine in Vista. So I don't know what you're dreaming I know the manufacturers COULD just take them back to clear the shelves, but I think that some buyers will buy the older technology at a good discount.

You could have the fastest card on the market, if there is LDDM drivers it won't support Aero Glass. my 5900XT has passed away (good riddance; it was loud and it had poor 2D quality) and I need an AGP card to stick in my PC (for as long as I can hold off the desire to build an Athlon X2 system with Either card would do Aero Glass fine. Even an FX5500 would considering you're not going to max out the resolution.

Limitations of VMs?
In fact, my computer used to have one until I just recently got an FX5600 because I'll be trying out Vista soon, which requires a DX9 video card that supports pixel shader 2.0 for Aero Glass. If it weren't for that, I'd still be using my Geforce3 Ti200 right now. It still is a pretty hefty card in some games.

There's a good chance that you'll have to go out and buy another video card that really does support HDCP, because until quite recently no video card on .... on a Vista Premium PC are “a DX9 GPU, 128 MB of VRAM, Pixel Shader 2.0, and minimum resolution 1024x768x32”, and for Aero Glass it's even higher than that.

Perhaps the same moves that make Aero Glass usually stick will also keep the Vista theme in line. Also I Imagine you know that you have to have a certain Video Card requirement to use AG --but any of them should support the Vista theme. I've gotten the Vista theme using a 32MB card on one machine before I upgraded
